Traxens Develops First Standards for Smart Container Data Exchange

French container tracking solutions provider Traxens has finalized the first standards for smart container data exchange.

Although many smart containers are already in use, there are no global standards for communicating the full scope of the data they generate. These new standards will be the basis for API development, helping to bring technology into every aspect of the supply chain.

“This technology can be combined with other innovations such as blockchain, big data or data pipelines to provide even more uses in the trading community. Creating clear, unambiguous message exchange standards will unlock further potential of enhanced data,” Jacques Delort, managing director of Traxens, stated.

Earlier this year, Danish shipping giant Maersk joined CMA CGM and MSC as a key shareholder and customer of Traxens.

Hapag-Lloyd Introduces New India Routes
Germany's Hapag-Lloyd has launched two new services in India to meet growing demand.

The South East India – Europe Express (IEX) and the Middle East-India-Africa Express (MIAX) services are set to start in October. IEX is billed as the only direct connection between South and East India and Europe currently available. The weekly service will be made up of nine 6,500 TEU vessels. ONE, YML and COSCO are partnering on the project.

As per DP-World Director Rizwan Soomar, "The launch of two new services – IEX and MIAX – will create stronger opportunities for EXIM cargo and for Indian manufacturers to cater to global markets. We are extremely pleased to be chosen by Hapag-Lloyd yet again.”

New Boxship joined MSC fleet.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has expanded its fleet with third Gülsün class vessel in the company - MSC Samar.

The naming ceremony for the new ultra-large container vessel was held at the Port of Bremerhaven on September 17, 2019.

The newbuilding was completed at Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea in late July 2019.

MSC Samar has a length of 400 meters and a width of almost 62 meters and able to load more than 23 thousands of containers and also is equipped with a next-generation smart dispensing system and hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems.

The vessel is a part of the shipbuilding contract announced in September 2017 when Mediterranean Shipping Company ordered six 23,000 TEU from Samsung Heavy Industries and another five from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
