The extensions will see the vessels Erato and Danae continue their operation with Swiss-based Phaethon International Company AG at a daily rate of USD 10,500 (14-17 months) and 10,000 (13-16 months), respectively. The shipper has also secured a contract for the New York, which will be employed by DHL Project & Chartering Limited of Hong Kong for USD 16,000 per day over a 16-19 month period. New LNG carrier was named at Kawasaki shipyardNew LNG carrier was named at Kawasaki shipyard New liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier was named today at Sakaide shipyard of Japanese Kawasaki Heavy Industries. LNG Sakura is the first vessel jointly owned by KEPCO (70 percent of stake) and NYK (30 percent). According to a 20-year charter agreement LNG will be transported in North America and various other locations, sourced from shale gas fields. As per NYK, the Bahamas-flagged vessel will be the largest in the industry, having the 300 meter-long and dual-fuel diesel electric engine that improves fuel consumption. 2017-12-19

The goal is to rise the volume of annual cargo to 600 000 TEUs, to add 1 more deck with cranes and all necessary accommodations and to deepen the berth so it could operate 4 mega-containerships at the same time. Gävle container terminal was incepted 10 years ago and since that time cargo turnover has been constantly rising, which served fir the final decision to invest into expansion, as Gothenburg stays mainly RORO terminal. As of the moment the project was financed with USD 85 millions. |
