OOCL Hong Kong is the largest containership 

After being for 2 months as the biggest boxship, MOL Triumph, with 20,000 TEU capacity, has passed this title to OOCL Hong Kong with 21,413 TEUs. Hong Kong-based shipping company OOCL celebrated its opening at Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje on May 12. OOCL Hong Kong is 399.87 meters length and 58.8 meters breadth. This is the first of 6 ships ordered by OOCL company at SHI with a total cost of USD 950. OOCL Hong Kong will be routing Asia-Europe trade line with following stop ports: Ningbo, Xiamen, Shanghai, Yantian, Singapore in Asia and through Suez Canal to Wilhelmshaven, Rotterdam, Gdansk, Felixstowe in Europe.

The port of Hamburg welcomed 20 000 TEU vessel

The port of Burchardkai at Hamburg's Terminal received MOL Triumph on May 15, it is the first container-ship with capacity of over 20 000 tons. The vessel was delivered to  Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) in March, and is applied in THE Alliance’s FE2 service between Europe and Asia. 

Hamburg container terminal has 2 berths for handling  MOL Triumph, with 13 cranes in operation at Burchardkai port. Up to the 9 of these cranes will work in parallel on the new 20 000 tons vessel. 

The container-ship is scheduled to leave on May 18.

​​H​oegh Autoliners Keeps Scrapping Its Vessels

​The Norway-based shipping line has already sold 17 RoRo vessels for green recycling. The last one was pure car and truck carrier MV Höegh Triton built back in 1988. That was the second oldest vessel Hoegh had in fleet, the other one was 1987-built City of Mumbai, also was scrapped in January. All the vessels went for recycling to China - Jiang Men City Zhong Xin Shipbreaking & Steel Co. Hoegh Autoliners strives to renew it's fleet with eco-friendly ships. According to the official information, it's RoRo fleet encounts 50 vessels all over the world.

K Line Merging Subsidiaries

Japanese shipper Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) will merge two of its ship management subsidiaries, Taiyo Nippon Kisen and Escobal Japan. The companies are planned to be renamed K Line RORO and Bulk Ship Management.

The move will “realize more secure and environmental-friendly services that will meet the day-by-day increasing demand for reduction of environmental load toward a sustainable and livable world,” K Line said.

K Line's updated structure will have three ship management companies: K Line Ship Management Company (containerships, tankers and gas carriers), K Line LNG Shipping (UK) Limited (LNG carriers), and Taiyo Nippon Kisen (car carriers and dry bulk carriers).
