​World's First Ship Tunnel

Norway's government proposed the project of the first ship tunnel construction within National Transport Plan 2018-2029. The tunnel is going to be full-scale with the length of 1.7 km, 36m wide and 50m high. The construction period will take around 3-4 years and the whole project's construction will cost EUR 293 million.

​As per the project manager the construction ​will start not earlier than in 2019.
To get full financing the Stad Ship Tunnel project has to be approved by parliament after an external quality assurance process (KS2)

Future Growth of UK Container Terminals

As it was announced by ​Associated British Ports (ABP), the huge UK port operator is going to invest GBP 50 million to improve the 2 container terminals in Humber due to growing demand. As a consequence the terminal's capacity should rise twice.

​ABP has already invested GBP 30​ million for new ship-to-shore cranes for Hull Container Terminal. As a result, its capacity increased to 250.000 TEUs a year, as well as Immingham Container Terminal' capacity increased even more after investment.

​As a reminder, ABP invested ​GBP 50 million for the Southampton port development , which recently became one of the busiest terminals of the UK.

Bangladesh Builds Its Largest Vessel 

Bangladeshi shipbuilder Western Marine Shipyard has launched the first of ten 8,000 dwt mini bulk carriers.

The 122 meter-long JSW Pratapgad is the the largest vessel ever built in Bangladesh.

Western Marine Shipyard said that the ship will start service on the Indian Sea route. The company has a deal with India’s JSW Jaigarh Port Limited to build ten mini bulk carriers.
