Ports of LA and Long Beach are cooperating with Maersk linePorts of LA and Long Beach are cooperating with Maersk line The California ports will be investing into technologies to measure Maersk vessels' emissions. The partnership will research of environmental advantages of 12 upgraded Maersk container vessels. New technologies will include installing of sensors to track ship's emission and energy efficiency. Afterwards air pollution data will be used to compare influence of these vessels. Over a decade now, both CA ports are keeping on clean air programs that help to reduce harmful emissions from ports-related sources. At the same time, Maersk is the world's largest container shipping company and a member of the Trident Alliance. 2016-11-08
RoRo service from Port Everglades to Latin AmericaNYK Line, Japanese shipping company, will provide with new monthly RoRo service from Port Everglades in Florida to Latin America countries. The new service started on November 7 with the vessel Rigel Leader headed to Brazil, the Port of Santos. According to the Port Everglades, RoRo will be available also to Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. First Unmanned Vessel Will Sail in 2018First Unmanned Vessel Will Sail in 2018 Up to now there were only automated boats brought to operation, but according to international classification society DNV GL and the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) there is no technical limits for full size vessels design. The UK’s Automated Ships Ltd and Norway’s Kongsberg Maritime have signed a memorandum to build the world's first vessel to handle different offshore operations. The construction of this fully automated ship will start in January 2017 and it's going to enter service in 2018. |
