​The Largest Port of UK will Continue Growing

Felixtowe port authorities have started the latest expansion stage of adding a huge new ​container yard. It will take place right behind the Berth 9 and cover around 13 hectares. The project also includes the seabed reclamation scheduled to be completed by early 2019. As per Hutchison Ports operator, a new yard will add 18 000 TEU storage capacity making it total for the port of almost 150 000 TEU. The last year 166 mega-containerships calls were made at Felixtowe, so the construction of extra container yard will help to optimize operation with world's largest vessels. 

Forecast for shipping in 2018

DryShips Receives Fourth VLGC

Greek drybulk shipper DryShips has received its fourth very large gas carrier (VLGC).

Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, the newbuilding can carry liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and will be chartered to an oil company for a period of ten years. The shipper values the charter income at up to USD 103.8 million.

DryShips paid USD 83.5 million for the vessel. The purchase was financed by cash, undrawn liquidity and equity transactions.
