Belgian cities of Antwerp and Bruges have signed an agreement to join their respective ports.

The unification is expected to be completed in one year. The name of the joined operation will be ‘Port of Antwerp-Bruges’.

The facility should have a total throughput of 278 million tons per year. The rail transport between the ports will be bundled and pipeline connections will be added.​ ​There are three strategic priorities: sustainable growth, resilience and digital transition.
