The oldest Rotterdam ECT Home terminal was opened in 1967 and it was the first container handling terminal that made the history at the country.

However, up-to-day containerships require much deeper docks and bigger cranes, so after 50 years of operation this terminal became not efficient.

The 65 hectares area will not be developed with new terminal and will serve for port-related services.

The port of Rotterdam has 2 more terminals that are expected to meet all demands:
ECT Delta Terminal and  Euromax Terminal Rotterdam.

APM Terminals has recently announced about the intention to expand Mexico's Veracruz port and attract more than 1 USD billion investments to the country.
The port is planned to be expanded with 5 additional terminals. The first stage of reconstruction will be finished in 2018 and will raise the port's capacity 8 times!
There will be also a satellite 5 position terminal for bulk cargo vessels with 2 separate docks.

The port of Veracruz is the strategic important area and will serve as the beginning of logistic corridor with the end at Michoacan port of Lazaro Cardenas. There will be an automated container terminal, starting its operation in 2016. It will allow to combine Atlantic and Pacific ocean operations and will bring more revenue to the country.
