Please note that Auction Export will now use container shipping for all extensive damaged, non drivable vehicles that have to be forklifted and are going to WEST AFRICA. All drivable vehicles without visible extensive damage will sail by RORO as usual, vehicles that are non drivable and do not have extensive damage will be accepted by RORO TOWABLE. Ports of destination will stay the same as Tincan Port for Nigeria and Tema port for Ghana.

There are few options to ship your vehicle to Ghana; nonetheless clients prefer RORO and Container service. Regardless of which option is chosen, there are some steps you need to know. Below are some import steps that may assist you with your vehicle import.

3 STEPS To Retrieve Your Vehicle
From The Terminal Once It Arrives to Your Destination Port

Before the vessel arrives, you should contact AuctionExport Agent in Ghana to obtain a copy of the HBL (house bill of lading - view sample) to enable them to start clearing process.

Once customs duty on the car is paid, you can proceed to our clearing agent to pay the necessary fee to obtain the release on the vehicle. These fees have already been prepaid by our agent to simplify the process. Nonetheless all releases remain with the agent until the necessary fees are paid in full by the customer.

You can then proceed to the car park and obtain delivery of your car from the port authorities/customs.

Please note that AuctionExport does not handle clearing at the destination, however Auction Export trusted clearing agent can assist our customers with clearing.
RORO Vessel information:
Once the vessel docks, cars are being discharged and remain at the port for about 1 day.
After 1 day at the terminal, cars are then taken to a car park which is outside the main port. By this time you should have followed steps 1-3 to avoid any late fees from port authorities.
Retrieve HBL (house bill of lading) from clearing agent to start the clearing process and pay your import duties.
Once customs duty is paid, retrieve the release from the agent. Pay any applicable fees.
Vessel arrives to the terminal. Cars remain 1 day at the port before moved to the car park.
With the release document from the agent, please proceed to the car park to take possession of your vehicle.

3 STEPS To Pick Up Your Vehicle

Before the vessel arrives, you should contact AuctionExport Agent in Ghana to obtain the copy of the HBL (house bill of lading - view sample) to enable them to start the clearing process and pay all the necessary import duty fees.

Once you pay the respective import duty fees, you have to contact AuctionExport clearing agent to pay the local fees on the release of the car and pick up the necessary documents. In the meantime our AuctionExport agent, who is in possession of the master OBL (bill of lading) or telex release for the container, will go to the local shipping line to pay all container release fees and obtain the release documents. Also, agent will proceed to the Ghana ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to pay handling charges on the container so it can be made available to be opened and cars released to their owners.

With issued release from AuctionExport Agent, you can then go to the Golden Jubilee container depot to take delivery of your car.
Container vessel information:
Containers are being discharged at the main port, 2-3 days later are being taken out of the main terminal to the GOLDEN JUBILEE CONTAINER DEPOT, where are they being opened and cars removed from these containers once releases are made. Please review previous steps.
Retrieve HBL (house bill of lading) from agent to start the clearing process and pay your duties on the car.
Once customs duty is paid, retrieve the release from the agent. Pay any applicable fees.
Container discharged and taken to the Golden Jubilee container deport.
With the release document from the agent, please proceed to the container depot to take possession of your vehicle.

In both shipping options the port authority issues a "Car Condition Report" on every car for you to know the condition in which the car arrived, for RORO at the Ramp of the vessel and for container when the car is removed from the container.

Please inspect the vehicle after you pick it up. If for some reason the vehicle will arrive with damages, please take pictures and send a report to the agent. He will advise on how to open a claim locally.

Kindly note that your importation process starts when your car is already paid in full to AuctionExport and it has arrived to your destination port.
