MSC Anna, a 19,200 TEU vessel owned by Mediterranean Shipping Company, has docked at Oakland International Container Terminal, becoming the largest ship ever to call Oakland. 
It is scheduled to spend 24 hours at the port, unloading import containers and loading exports.     

The port said that the arrival of such a large vessel is great news, especially at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is causing a decline in cargo volume.
Oakland has invested large sums into increasing its capacity to accommodate big ships.
Port of Oakland Executive Director Danny Wan: "We’ve spent years, and millions of dollars keeping ahead of the pace of trade and the size of ships. We’re ready for the MSC Anna and we’ll welcome her back any time.”
