On September 30 the Jacksonville Port Authority’s received the biggest Pure Car and Truck Carrier  (PCTC) in the world, owned by Norwegian RoRo shipping company Höegh Autoliners.

This 8,500 CEU  (car equivalent units) vessel arrived  through recently expanded Panama Canal.

Jacksonville is the one of the busiest ports in USA for vehicle handling. In 2015 it moved around 657 000 vehicles, the biggest volume since 2007.

Also this month the Höegh Vessel became first Neo-Panamax vessel which arrived to Port Freeport in Texas.

The Antwerp Belgium port is the second biggest port in Europe. September 23 port authorities presented new headquarters building design, that was supposed to visualize and combine city history, diamond center and shipping sector.
The construction costed $62 million and it's made of more than 2000 glass parts.

Designers don't reveal the idea of the installation and left it for people's imagination. Some see a ship, others a diamond, however now it's a "home" for more than 500 Antwerp port employees.

Kline refuses bankruptcy speculations

Japanese shipping major Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (KLine) is refuting recent reports that the company will file for bankruptcy protection and follow Hanjin Shipping into administration. Also, reports have indicated the line can file for court receivership within the next two weeks.
Kline's PR Group general manager announced that these rumors are “untrue, completely groundless”. At the same time, Kline published a loss relating to owners of the parent of 26.8 billion yen in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2016-17 comparing with profits of 10.2 billion yen for the same quarter a year earlier. 

The Massachusetts terminals in the port of Boston handle over 1 million TEU of cargo per year.

In 2016 The Boston's Port has received USD 107.5 million of investment for the construction of new berth  with three new cranes to accommodate  bigger vessels at the Conley terminal. Also, as per US Transportation Department, MA will receive USD 42 million for reconstruction and improvement of Conley terminal's existing area.

During 2015 and 2016 it attained record cargo volumes including double growing of the import and export. After Expansion of Panama Canal  the terminal is receiving 60 % larger vessels on the Asia to the East Coast route.

For now, with new investments  Boston is continuing to grow as a  strategical port for international shipping and is developing as important part of marine economy.
