NYK teams up with KyushuNYK teams up with Kyushu Japanese shipper Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) has signed an agreement with Kyushu Electric Power to collaborate in multiple fields, including the transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The deal will have Kyushu Electric Power using NYK’s vessels for short-term LNG transport demand. The companies are looking into cooperation in complementary businesses such as LNG bunkering “to improve [NYK's] profitability through efficient vessel allocation and Kyushu Electric Power to improve its flexibility in LNG transport.” In a related move, NYK has assigned its LNG ship Grace Barleria to a charter contract for KEP which will see the vessel transport LNG from various projects for up to 11 years. 2017-06-30

Maersk is back to normal operationsMaersk is back to normal operations Danish-based company Maersk line has restored its operations after cyber attack that hit the company's system on June 27. As per company's representatives, almost all ports are operational and running close to regular. The company reestablished the businesses in Mumbai, Buenos Aires, Tangier, Callao Lima, Itajai and Algeciras. Although Maersk is still trying to reveal the services at Port Elizabeth in NJ, Pier 400 in LA and Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam. Terminals in LA and NJ are currently able to receive and deliver imports while they are still trying to restore export cargo running. In Rotterdam at Maasvlakte II Maersk moved its services to another terminals in and around Rotterdam while main facility is working on reestablishing the business. 2017-06-29

SSA Marine is to construct a new deep-sea port in Black SeaSSA Marine is to construct a new deep-sea port in Black Sea It was agreed back in October 2016, that one of the biggest American port operator will handle the construction of new modern all-weather port in Anaklia, Georgia. An Investment agreement was signed by Anaklia Development Consortium (ADC) and the Government of Georgia. SSA Marine got the right to construct, develop and operate the future terminal for 52 years after. As per both parties, it will help to establish the corridor to Central Asia and Southern countries from Europe. Once ready, the port will cover the area of 400 ha and will be capable to handle 100 million tons turnover. |
