US Ports Expecting for Cargo Overvolume in August

US Ports Expecting for Cargo Overvolume in August

As per the monthly Global Port Tracker report the import of goods will leap up in August in major US container terminals. The cause of rise and possible delays at ports is considered to be the sales increase of importing goods and this information was confirmed by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Hackett Associates.
August is expected to set up a record of goods import-export turnover of 1.75 million TEU, which is going to be much higher comparing to same period of previous years. Starting from September ports' congestion will start decreasing. The research was made throughout the following ports: Los Angeles/Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and Tacoma, as well as New York/New Jersey, Hampton Roads, Charleston, Savannah, Port Everglades and Miami, plus Houston.

A.P. Moller–Maersk Group intends to relaunch container shipping to New Zeland!

Maersk was founded almost 113 years ago in Denmark and right now is the largest container shipping and supply vessel operator in the world.

A.P. Previously Maersk was providing container shipping service to Wellington, but the earthquake in  Kaikoura, November 2016, caused  getting out of order the port’s gantry cranes, and they are still going to be repaired by this September.

As soon as Wellington port operator CentrePort completes works that will allow its ship-to-shore cranes to operate, the service will be restored.

“CentrePort has kept us fully informed of its progress over the last nine months and we are very pleased to return to Wellington with our weekly Northern Star service,” - Gerard Morrison, Maersk Line Oceania’s Managing Director.
