A new shipbuilding contract with Korean giant Daewoo has been signed by Maersk Line for additional second generation Tripple-E container vessels.

11 second generation vessels should be of length approximately 400 meters and a 16.5m draft.
Besides this, Maersk Line is planning to invest into new-buildings, containers' improvement, other equipment and retrofitting. Such changes should allow the line to maintain necessary capacity and replace efficient tonnage.

New vessels will be largest in Maersk Line by usage and are oriented for the Asia - Europe service. These vessels shall replace smaller and less efficient ships.

New Transatlantic Service in Bremerhaven has started

The joint partnership of several major shipping lines whose service was launched by United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), CMA CGM and Hamburg Süd will start operating weekly and right now has 15 vessels in total. All the ships are in the 3,800/4,800 TEU capacity class.

In order to satisfy the growing demands of the North America - Europe market, the brand new route will be as follows: Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, Cartagena, Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk, New York, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Le Havre, Southampton

As an international transshipment hub with the groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of the expansion. Panama has taken another firm step toward boosting its capacity.

The new terminal will be equipped with 11 new quay cranes​ ​with the outreach of 24 rows.

Also, as an addition to new cranes the terminal will feature ​many more improvements, such as ​9 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, 52 prime movers and 3 empty container handlers​.
These improvements shall be ready to work by 2016.

Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen will begin working with Turkish Arkas shipping line. The collaboration will cover western and eastern Mediterranean and Aegean Sea. With 1 vessel, belonging to Evergreen and 3 - to Arkas, ocean shipment will be proceed at Alexandria, Izmir, Valencia, Latakia, Mersin, Barcelona ports. The delivery schedule is going to be within 28 days. This is not the final introduction in Evergreen's operations - two extra services are going to be launched by the next month covering Mersin and Piraeus (southern Italy) destinations.
